7th Annual Platelet Colloquium
January 19-21, 2012
Willard InterContinental Hotel
Washington, DC
Attendance by invitation only.
Overarching Themes:
The overarching theme for the 7th Platelet Colloquium was the translation of fundamental platelet biology and platelet antagonist pharmacology to safe and effective patient care. To this end, platelet biology and imaging provided the platform for scholarly discussions devoted to trans-catheter cardiac procedures, clinical trials and early safety profiling in drug development.
Objectives
Objective 1: Discuss the evolving field of platelet epigenetics, regulation and imaging as pivotal areas for understanding and translating platelet biology.
Objective 2: Discuss the emerging practice of trans-catheter cardiac procedures and the contributing role of platelets to their success and complications.
Objective 3: Highlight recent phase 2 and 3 clinical trials of platelet antagonists and discuss future strategies for employing molecular technologies toward safety profiling in early drug development
